New Work by last term students

It's fantastic to see students progress and refine their skills. They often forget how they started, which is usually from scratch. They have become more confident and independent with time.

New Botanic Art Work Term2

My camera is lost, unfortunately, with many images of finished work on it.
Hence the delay in keeping the blog and website updated. The Phone camera is the alternative.

Some really beautiful work has been produced by the students , see the images included.
And some great work is still in the make, White orchids, Persimmons, etc..

I can see a few mentored students really benefiting by copying images from books. It just gives you a better understanding of how paintings are being build up. It's great for confidence as well.

Week 2, term1

Ian came in with a great painting on Wednesday and Janet finished her Nasturtiums this Friday.
See the attached pictures.
The beginners are doing well and are practising mixing colours and brush techniques. Always some nervous faces in the beginning as some haven't touch brushes in ages or not at all.

Term 1, 2011 Starting this week

This week our first term for 2011 will start. The classes are nearly full which is great. Thanks to those students that keep on re enrolling into the Botanic Art Classes.
I have set some new projects that the mentored students can work on if they like. Drawing with Charcoal. Challenging but beautiful medium that will teach you about contrast, detail, shading, large smooth surfaces, etc.

Also the new website is up and running. New images of students work and other news will be published regularly.
